Hi, I’m Sherri, the author and recipe developer behind Recipe Shuffle.
I’m also the former owner and original founder of WatchLearnEat.com, where I created and posted recipes for nine years, many of which were vegan.

The Inspiration Behind the Name
I started Recipe Shuffle out of my obsession for top lists, which began when I was a kid in the 1980s listening to the radio DJ count down the best songs of the year.
Fast forward to the present and now I can make my own digital playlists of my favorite songs, hit shuffle, and listen for hours.
Combining different recipe ideas into one place is kind of like making a playlist, but for recipes instead of songs, hence the name “Recipe Shuffle.”
My Plant-Based Journey
I spent the majority of my adulthood as an on and off vegetarian. Like many others, it all started my freshman year of college when I read Diet for a New America by John Robbins in my environmental science class.
I remember coming home from school and telling my parents I wasn’t eating meat anymore. They weren’t too excited about it, but they accepted it.
Over the years, I had a hard time staying on track until a friend and I decided to take the Veganuary challenge together in 2019.
While I didn’t go back to eating meat, I did experiment here and there with reintroducing dairy and eggs back into my diet, but I realized that dairy was actually causing more harm than good.
I struggled with hormonal imbalance and severe endometriosis, which were exacerbated by consuming dairy products.
So, I cut out the dairy for good and the eggs followed suit. Then, in January 2025, I also stopped cooking with oils and lowered my overall fat consumption, which led to significant improvement with my hormonal imbalance and endometriosis symptoms as well as a 15+ pound weight loss.

While I personally choose to predominantly avoid using oil, I choose to feature all kinds of vegan dishes on the site. I believe it’s important to showcase a variety of meal ideas so that there’s something for everyone – no matter where you are on your plant-based journey.
